I like to use frozen squid for channel catfish bait, but I recently found that a squid head makes an awesome jig trailer. It has action no plastic can match, and leaves a scent trail to boot! And if you fish for panfish, a cut off section of squid head with a couple tentacles will drive sunfish nuts with their action, and they are tough and difficult for sunfish to steal off the hook.
