Christmas tree lake is probably one of the top premium lakes in the state. It usually has a damsel fly hatch in June or July.
41 acres. Elev., 8,200 ft. Five miles south of Hawley Lake on Reservation Route 26. Apache trout is the draw here with a few browns lurking in the shadows. Fly and lure only. Open May 31 to Sept 30.The whole month of May is reserved for the special fish camp customers. Special regulations governing and the "Rent-a-lake Program" use of this lake, consult the White Mountain Apache Game and Fish Department in Whiteriver No more than 20 persons on the lake per day. Fish camp prices run from $200 to $275 per day with boat, motor, tent and food. After May 31 the price is $30 per day per person. There is no camping at Christmas tree lake except during the special fish camp in May. The nearest camping is at Hawley Lake 12 miles to the north.
