Here's a great way to cover more bottom when catfishing. Use your boat like a giant planer board! Install 5 cleats to the forward part of your boat, one centered on the bow, a pair on either side of the bow, and another pair on either side about 4 feet back from the first pair. Anchor your boat and tie off to the center cleat. The boat will ride directly behind the anchor. To move to the side about 5 feet, tie off to the first cleat on one side or the other. To move to the side another 5 feet, tie off to the cleat farther back. Now tie off to the foreward cleat on the other side and move about 5 feet to that side, move to the cleat farther back and move over even more. You can cover about 20 feet of bottom on either side of your anchor without raising it. Also, let out more anchor line to move farther backward to increase even more bottom coverage with only one anchoring!
